Matt Twitchell

Matt Twitchell’s connection to firearms began at the age of seven. Firearms and hunting became a lifelong passion, taking him from the Pacific Northwest and Alaska to military duty stations across the country.

 

That passion followed him into a 21-year United States Army career as a Combat Medic, where discipline, precision, and attention to detail were essential. In 1990 and 1991, Matt also competed on the Alaska Command rifle team, combining his military experience with his passion for marksmanship.

 

After the Army, Matt continued a career centered on training, education, and service. In 2020, he transferred to the Department of Veterans Affairs in Prescott, Arizona, where he continued serving veterans.

 

As his professional career continued, VelociArms began evolving from a family passion into a family business. Matt brought the same principles he had developed throughout his military and professional careers—discipline, precision, accountability, and a commitment to doing things right.

 

In 2023, Matt moved the family to Mitchell, South Dakota, establishing the community that would become home to VelociArms while continuing his work with the VA.

 

Then, in 2026, Matt returned to the classroom himself, beginning a Firearms Technology degree at Sonoran Desert Institute to continue developing his knowledge and skills within the industry.

 

For Matt, VelociArms is not simply a business. It is the continuation of a lifelong relationship with firearms, service, craftsmanship, and family.
